It keeps saying reset device failed : nul. Does this mean its failed? Therefore return to seller?

How did you reset the device? Where did you see reset device failed?
You may press the settings button on the top for 10 seconds until the WI-FI LED blinks quickly.
When the WI-FI LED light comes to blinking amber and green, you are able to configure it.
If the LED is not normal, you may contact tp-link support for help.
