@Soban

What is the hardware version of C1200?

And what is the country version of it? It is printed on the bottom label, like EU or UN.

The Archer C1200 V2 does not support SMB V2 yet, while there is a plan to add this feature in the next firmware.

You can keep an eye on official website for the updates.

@Soban

Actually, both gave you a correct answer, but it is related to different version.

Our tech support gave the answer that there is no plan to add SMB V2 for C1200 V2 is based on the US version of the firmware. Cause the C1200 V3 has been released for US version, the latest version has the plan to support it.

While I gave you the answer regarding to the EU version.

And I found that your firmware should be EU version, and it is V2, that is why I told you there is a plan to add it.

Meanwhile, you can enable SMB V1 manually on Windows 10 as the following instruction:

Step1. Click [Start Menu] icon, and search for [Control Panel].

Step2: Open the [Control Pannel], click [Programs].

Step3: Click the label [Turn Windows features on or off].

Step4: Find the checkbox of [SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support], select it and enable it.

@Kevin_Z

I don't understand why you even suggest using dangerous SMB1. It's disable in default not without a reason.

There were many hacker's attacks through SMB1.

it's been many years since Microsoft warned about using it

@Soban

It is just a method to enable it manually, if you want to use SMB V1, then follow the instruction, if not, you can keep it disabled by default to protect the security. It depends on you.

Meanwhile, If you do not want to use SMB 1.0 anymore, you can use FTP to easily access the USB memory on your TP-Link router using the Internet browser. Alternatively, you can also use the FTP protocol with e.g. Cyberduck, FileZilla or WinSCP access the memory.

@Kevin_Z  I suppose there is no new Firmware for the Archer VR900(EU)-v2 yet?
I am another victim of the SMB1 depriciation and need my SMB2 (or 3) enabled on my modem.
After 1.5 years did anybody actually do anything in this regard?

For an  - otherwise brilliant - TP-Link modem this is a rather delayed response to what has clearly been out for years already.

@Rick_nl

Hello, sorry to tell you that there is no new firmware which supports SMB V2 for VR900 V2 yet.

You still can use SMB 1.0 on your computer, while if you do not want to use SMB 1.0 anymore, you can use FTP to easily access the USB memory on your TP-Link router using the Internet browser. Alternatively, you can also use the FTP protocol with e.g. Cyberduck, FileZilla or WinSCP access the memory.

May it help and have a nice day.
