Hi im new to the group and looking for some help. Im on Virgin media super hub 3 and ive just purchased an access point TP-WA801ND and ive done the smart set up for wifi extender with the same name and password as my router. when i check the speed on virgin its about 160-180 mbs when i connect to the access point its about 7 mbs.

people have surgested changing the channel but i dont have that option in the dashboard. any help would great thanks in advance.

Hello, what is the current operation mode of the TL-WA801ND? Does it connect to the main router by wired cable or wireless?

 

To locate this issue, you can create a different network name for the TL-WA801ND and connect your computer to it to verify the speed you can get.

 

Meanwhile, please notice that, the TL-WA801ND has the 100Mbps LAN port, that is to say, the speed you get from the access point won't be higher than 100Mbps.

 

Besides,you can customize the wireless settings to improve its performance, like wireless channel and channel with. And please ensure that the firmware is up to date.

Hi and thanks for the reply its connected wirelees to my router as for some reason i cant put my virgin router into router mode as it crashes.ive look at the ap dashboard and i cant see where it allows me to change channel from auto to selected channel. i will look at  changing name and password to ap. cheers
