Model: Deco M4
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version:

Hi there,

I was wondering if I could get some help regarding the set up of my deco M4. I am currently trying to work with the following setup:

Modem ---> Main Deco ---> DLink DGS-1016D Switch ---> Slave Deco

but for some reason, the main one keeps choosing to connect to the slave deco over wifi which has a terrible signal.

I can't tell where the problem is. Is it the switch the problem in this case? I've checked all the wiring and everything works fine with other devices through the switch.

I've tried turning off Port Isolation on the switch, so that the decos can speak to eachother via ethernet. I've tried connecting the slave deco directly to main using ethernet and it works flawlessly.

But I need my whole house under the same network for easy manage.

Please advice me on the issue, and if the switch the problem here, suggest a not so expensive 16+ port switch.

@Hismuth try to reboot only slave Deco... I have the same situation if I'm rebooting or switching power off of the network device placed between the main and the slave Decos...

@Hismuth

Hi, connect the slave Deco to the main Deco directly, bypass the switch and verify whether the ethernet backhaul works.

You can read Q6 of the article attached below:

There are some 16 ports switches, while as a tech support, I'm not sure about the price and it may vary due to different countries/districts.
