Hey folks,

 

I bought a RE450 in April and up until now it has been truly excellent.

 

Running in high-speed mode, maximum coverage, I got consistent download speeds in the 90 Mbps range.

 

Lately, however, I will notice major slowdown and find it's bogged down to the 4 Mbps down/up speed, tested across several devices. Connected directly to the router via WiFi I still get the full 100mps.

 

I hit the big button on the front (which I never had to do in the past) and it returns to the full speed for a while, but then will drop back down to the 4 Mbps range over the next couple of hours. Rinse and repeat.

 

I'm running the latest firmware. What else can/should I do?

How many times would it happen within one day?

Did all the devices connected to the RE450 have the same unstable speed issue?

By the way, how about the link speed when it dropped to around 4m/s, such as https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/2265/;

What is the model number of your main router?

If possible, please try to change the wireless advanced settings on the router, such as channel 11 for the 2.4ghz, channel 40 for the 5ghz;

It's just happened to me again now so I can check.

 

Yes, all devices affected have the same problem. The link speed is 650Mbps.

 

It's not been happening long so it's difficult to say how often this happens. 3x in one day has been the worst so far, but yesterday there were no issues.

I wanted to update this thread just to say that disabling high-speed mode completely seems to fix the issue.

 

I'm not sure why this worked so well for several months and then just started causing frequent issues, and whether it's the RE450, my router or other signal factors.
