Model: TL-WPA4220
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.0.844-01_422011_140304_002

Hi All

I bought a kit from Maplins, a while ago, consisting of a TL-PA4030 and two TL-WPA4220s (All v1 hardware).

I have had them set up on my home network working as ethernet extenders - rather than Wi-Fi.

I have now reconfigured my network which means the these units are now connecting to a different network.

I can see the two '4220s on the network with their own SSIDs, but I'd like to them to clone the host Wi-Fi SSID.

I downloaded the tfPLC application (PowerLineUtility_Win_180816.zip), but it doesn't offer any assistance with regard to Wi-Fi settings.

I'd like them to show the host SSID so that as devices move around the house they don't have to 'chop and change' wi-fi connections.

Please can anyone advise?

A related question: When connecting to the extenders by ethernet, the (SSID) label on the connection is showing a previous network name and not the current one.  Can I change this?

Edited to add:

The above mentioned utility has now shown me a web page for each '4220 which hadn't been visible before.  Visiting the web pages appeared to allow me to change the SSID and related password, but now they no longer show in the utility as connected to the '4030!

(If i add them back in, the SSID has been reset to (unknown name).

Thanks

Echo

@EchoBeach

Good day,

Thank you very much for your time and patience.

When they are no longer connected to the 4030 on the utility, did the powerline lights on the 4030 still lit up?

If not, have you tried to manually press the pair button on the 4030 and one of the 4220s to pair them again?

And since you mentioned, once you add them in, the SSID would be reset to the unknown name, not the default SSID on the label?

Just in case, the name you changed before, it is the wireless SSID, not the network name under secure section(such as https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/1616/ ), right?

And how to customize the wireless settings on the utilityhttps://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/1611/

Thanks a lot.

Hi @Solla-topee

Thanks for your reply.

Your thoughts helped me to concentrate and my TP-Link extenders are now successfully connected to each other and broadcasting the SSID for the router.

Having spent the weekend on it, I now have a mesh network.

Thanks again
