Hello, can you please confirm is the main router plugged into the WAN port or one of the LAN ports on the AX1500 when it is working as an access point?
Ensure the connection between the main and the AX1500 is good, you may also check if you can find the negotiation speed on its web interface, whether it is 1000Mbps or 100Mbps, try with different cat5e or cat6 cables:

Try to reset it to factory defaults and reconfigure it from scratch, then monitor again if the speed will be back normal.

The AX1500 is plug in with a Cat 5e cable in the wan port. The speed before the update was around 300-400 with an iPhone 12 pro. Nothing has change, except updating the firmware.

Hi, I just experienced the exact same problem with this firmware:
Hardware Version: Archer AX1500 v1.20
Firmware Version: 1.1.1 Build 20201116 Rel. 57075
My speeds dropped from 377 Mbps to around 90 as well. I'm running in Wireless Router Mode.
I was able to resolve the issue by downloading and installing the previous firmware, Archer AX1500(US)_V1.20_200908 from Download for Archer AX1500 | TP-Link (tp-link.com).
