Model: Archer C6
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.3.6 Build 20200902 rel.65591

Dear All,

I have a strange issue with my C6 and RE305.

Since i have from ISP Voip i must have ISP router connected to internet. So i connect C6 as router via Ethernet to ISP router and created a mesh with my RE305.

The first issue i have is that devices that are half a meter from C6 are connecting to RE305 that is on another floor.  (this is really weird!!!)

Second issue i'm having and i was unable to find a solution is with my LG TV, TP-Link smart outlets and a shelly device (2.5).

  • LG TV, after a few hours, wifi seems connected, but there is no traffic. Some times it is unable to connect to both 2.4 and 5 SSID's
  • outlets and shelly, they loose connectivity to wifi

Both of the issues are fixed if i disable and re-enable C6 wifi. I connected the devices to my ISP wifi and there is no issue, so this is due to C6 or RE305

I already tried with static IP's, reservations, automatic IP;s, static channel on wifi but without any luck.

So: onemesh is not working as it should.. o have 7 devices close to the router, that are connecting to RE305 and not the router.

I'm thinking disabling onemesh, but this was the reason i choose those TP-Link products

Nice topology diagram !

How close are the ISP router and your C6 ? It is possible that issue has emerged due to a wireless interference between those two.

Have you tried to disable ISP router Wi-Fi and see if it persists.

Aside from that you are using C6 in router mode to benefit from OneMesh feature.

If you configure your C6 in pseudo AP mode you'll be avoiding double NAT in your network and still benefit from OneMesh.

@Ivaylo Issue started with ISP router's wifi off ... later i enable it in order to have the devices connected.

I will try the pseudo-ap mode you suggested .. (dont know when though since my wife is also working from home).

I also saw a post for RE305 DHCP disable with beta firmware .. i will try this also...

Yep, do that at your convenience. Did you happen to upgrade your C6 FW soon ?

@Ivaylo Changing it to AP mode though, will also disable QoS parental control ... I dont mind about parental, but QoS is something i need :(

In this scenario the router is actually still in router mode. Just see the link I've sent - you won't be switching to AP mode through the WebGUI of the C6 (i.e. you'll still have the Parental control and QoS active). Keep in mind that in normal AP mode you can't use OneMesh, that's why I suggested the pseudo AP mode.

@cakrit ok i will try that...

I try to upgrade RE305 with beta firmware that was proposed to disable DHCP... device is broken!!!!!!

Though make me realized something... Mesh working like crap!!!!!! all 2.4 devices were connecting to RE305 even if the router was next to them, they connected to RE305.

After RE305 died, no device connected to router 2.4  (all 5g devices connected) until i turned off and turned on again the 2.4 wifi.

So 100% the issue is with the 2.4 wifi of the router, (thats why all devices were connecting to RE305, because routers wifi is broken)...

So now i have one device broken and one with major issue on the 2.4 wifi

Where did you get this beta FW for RE305 from - link ? Why do you think device broken, any LEDs lit/blinking when booting ? Was that FW for the same region and HW version as your RE305 ?

Obviously it comes from a reputable source. I would suggest to wait until someone answers your issue before sending the device, if the service repair will last few weeks. It might be something easily fixable@home. How did you do the upgrade - via wireless or cable ?

Regarding your initial problem - did you have this 2.4 GHz band issue before introducing the new ISP router in your network ?
