[SOLVED] (Archer C7) Wifi network access problem after upgrading to latest firmware
Hi,
after upgrading my Archer C7 EU to firmware c7v5_[20201120-rel50406]_2020-11-20_14.00.44 to fix SMB/CIFS auth access, some device now cannot connect to the wifi network.
Sky-Q decoder (Humax), Xerox Workcentre 3225 and my Xbox360 (slim model) stopped working.
I tried with other wifi and they work ok, so it is not an HW problem, and they see the C7 network fine but cannot join it, the log on the router shows nothing.
Even with an open network they cannot join. There's a way to at least downgrade to a lower firmware? with the beta all worked fine.
Thanks.

At last, problem solved. I don't know if it is a coincidence but doing the following solved the problem.
I factory reset the router from the UI.
Then, (hard) factory reset with the reset button.
Then reflashed the FirmWare.
Now, all the devices connect no problem.

For that FW it is stated (in release notes) that you won't be able to downgrade to a previous FW release.
Try with these wireless settings and see if you are able to connect (for both 2.4 and 5 GHz bands):
If the issue persists hard reset the router and re-configure from scratch, then test again.

Just make some notes on your configuration before resetting, to be easier for you restoring them back.

sorry, I was able only today to do some test. Anyway, resetting to factory default didn't do nothing. Printer, skyq-decoder and xbox360 don't connect to wifi 2.4 or 5G.
I repeat, they work correctly doing an hotspot with my mobile phone or a stupid old access point i got lying around (it works as a client too if i connect it to wifi then printer etc to it via ethernet). This behavior happened as soon as I upgraded to the latest firmware, until beta it all worked fine.

It sounds like a FW issue and the inability to revert back to the previous FW release, makes things annoying.
Why don't you contact the tech support and ask them what your options are ? Maybe they will provide a solution for that.

Nevermind, my bad, got the form. It took me aoutomatically to the Italian site, things are a little different,
thanks for the reply, where I can contact the tech support?

nothing, same behavior on all the three.
contacted support, let's wait if they let me know something.
btw, tried with a friend's C7 with an old FW, all works fine. Dunno what changed with this FW revision but, for me at least, something broke.

One more confirm, is your C7 v5 an EU version? Are all other phones and laptops can still connect fine?
Was there any error message when you try to connect to the network on the Sky Q decoder, Xerox Workcentre 3225, and Xbox360? Have you tried with different channels on the C7 for both the 2.4G and 5G network?

Hi.
Yes is an EU V5 version.
The firmware was downloaded from the italian site (link):
https://static.tp-link.com/2020/202012/20201222/Archer%20C7(EU)_V5_201120.zip
No, there are no error messages. Only the printer shows a "Disconnected" warning. Nothing on the router's log.
All have the same behavior, like when a device is trying tp join a network with a wrong password (pwd, is not the issue, same behavior with an open network). SkyQ (5Ghz is reserved) and X360 are 2.4 only, Xerox is both.
Any of the my other devices works fine 2.4 and 5GHz, Laptop (W10 or CentOS) three android (6.x, 10.x) phones, an XboxOneX and a 2.4GHz cheap noname AP/Repeater/Client.
Yes, I even tried factory default config (SSID and password) no WAN and/or other devices connected.
Until and included the beta FW you recommended me in this thread, all worked fine.
