W9970 V4 High packet error
After my V2 failed and blew I got a W9970 V4
Upon going into the stats there is a high number of error packets both up and down. (1 day up time) Almost 40 errors per hour!
The V2 never ahd this issue and reported 0 packet errors for months.

Hey
It is not unexpected to see errors on any line and it may well be your new router is just better at handling them than the old one.
I have a VR600 and it logs around 100 or so errors per day, this has been unchanged for 2 years. Recently however i added a R605 gateway behind this device and it logs 10 times what the VR600 does, basically better at picking things up.
Error rate is also usually related to your SNR ratio in some way. A good clean line will try for ~6snr, dirtier lines are happier with 9snr.. both will work just as the SNR increases the speed will drop also. Ultimately there is not a lot you can do about this and packet errors/loss will likely increase along with SNR.
The average internet packet is ~400bytes in size so 40 packets an hour is around 16Kb per hour of bad data that will need re-transmitted.
What is your current SNR?

@Philbert Hi Philbert,
Thank you for your reply.
I see you may be right, as I have not yet experienced a drop out or loss in speed. Just shocked at the level of errors being spotted.

Thats a decent SNR and rate you are getting, definately wouldnt be worried about the packet loss
Your line speed is VERY good so a few stray packets is to be expected here, provided your line is stable then its well within acceptable margins. I would say its likely just the new router / chipset being more accurate. The old saying if it aint broke, dont fix it

@Philbert Thank you for your reply!
Will see how it goes, the older models with the broadcom chip were rock solid and hopefully W9970 V4 follows this trend

Seems like the DLM decided to sync at a higher rate of 71mbps (from 67ish) sync speed and errors have gone down to just to single digits for just down.
My previous VR400 use to achieve full 76-78 hopefully the W9970 reaches that also
