Model: Deco M9 Plus
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.5.0

My V2s have updated from 1.5.0 to 1.5.1 but my router (v1) is still on 1.5.0 The support website only shows 1.5.0 for both models - has anyone seen the update for V1 models and why is the support website not up to date if the firmware is being pushed out automatically to V2s?

@RWB66

Hi, I can see the latest firmware 1.5.1  for both V1 and V2 has been released on the global website and maybe there are some delay for local website;

https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/download/deco-m9-plus/v1/#Firmware

After updating the 1.5.1 on V2, would there be any issue about the new firmware?

Thank you very much and wait for your reply.

I have 3 x M9v2 and 1 x M9v1 where the Main Deco is v2. They all had 1.5.0 installed. I wasn't sure how to go up to 1.5.1 with 2 different firmware files available - I was nervous that the v2 firmware would be pushed to the v1. So I switched off the v1 device during the upgrade and used the bin file for the v2. All 3 v2s upgraded fine. The v1 can rejoin OK. But now I cannot see how to upgrade the v1 to 1.5.1. I can navigate to its IP address, upload the correct bin file, it responds back with "Operation Succeeded", but never reboots. I tried different browsers, same behavior. I manually rebooted, but no change. Its stuck on 1.5.0. Should I remove it from the network mesh and create a 2nd network for it, upgrade it there and then rejoin the main network?? Or keep it in the network, but promote it to the Main Deco and power off the v2s temporarily?? There are no log entries on the v1 device during the upload of the file, even in DEBUG. The network trace shows a response packet from the v1 to the browser with "error_code":0 and the TCP session is ended by the browser.

@Evilcraig My v1 wont upgrade by webui or gdpr and tells me the firmware is up to date despite the bin file now being on the Uk wersbite as well

@Evilcraig Replying to my own comment - I removed the v1 from the network, created a new network for the v1 only. Once it was in it's own network, I reached tplinkdeco.net and could upgrade to 1.5.1 via the bin file downloaded from here: https://static.tp-link.com/2021/202102/20210220/Deco_M9_Plus_V2_1.5.1_210126.zip Then I removed the new, temporary network which sets the v1 into factory default mode and added it as a new device back into the existing network. It worked just fine and now all devices have 1.5.1 installed. The ping problems and disconnects, flashing red lights etc that were observed with 1.5.0 have all been resolved.

I didn't want to reset my V1 as it is the router and this c####y firmware doesn't allow you to save settings but your approach gave me an idea. I switched off all the V2s and the V1 upgraded straight away ! They really need to sort this stuff out - for a plug and play whole home system the upgrade procedure by itself is a nightmare - I'm beginning to wish I never changed to a mesh system

Actually, the ping latency problems aren't 100% solved yet. I have one M9Plus which doesn't have an Ethernet backbone - it uses the wireless to join the mesh. Even when no devices are attached, it will show anywhere from 50Kbps - 500Kbps of incoming traffic, with some outgoing, though less. The main Deco (in router mode) shows nearly constantly 0Kbps when no one is using the network. Indicating that the satellite is misbehaving. Ping times to the device can spike to 150ms in short bursts of 5 secs every minute or so. The ethernet wired satellites show smaller amounts of weird traffic stats, but no ping delays. This is a HUGE improvement on 1.5.0 firmware, but is not how it behaved on 1.4.x.
