Hi,

 

I am getting dial-up type speeds on my wired connection on PC but WiFi is working. My ISP data speed should be gigabit.

 

I have 2 - X20's and 1 - M4R. 

Main X20 Deco is running FW 1.5.1

2nd X20 Deco is running FW 1.5.1Build 20210204 Re. 50738 

M4R is running FW 1.4.3 Build 20200918 Rel. 74289

 

My set up is modem -> X20 Deco -> switch. Modem is in bridge mode. Both X20's are wired while M4 is wireless.

 

Speedtest thru Deco App shows speeds of 913Mbps down.

Speedtest on various cellphones range from 4-600Mbps.

Speedtest on PC is 6Mbps. Yes, that is SIX!

Speedtest on PC if connected directly to modem is 964Mbps.

 

 

After initial installation everything was running fine, wired and wireless. However last week I noticed that speeds on PC were atrocious.

After I tested connecting modem directly to PC and got gigabit speeds, I plugged everything back in, restarted main Deco and speeds on PC were 400is Mbps.

I updated the firmware on main Deco and speeds have maintained around 400Mbps for about 1 week.  

Right now speeds have dropped back down between 6-9Mbps even after restarting main Deco.

I have tested wired speeds on 2 different PC's on 4 different ethernet connections and have swapped out all patch cables. Always get full speed when main deco is unplugged so have ruled out cables, ports, PC's (firmware/hardware), modem, switch or ISP issues.

 

I have searched for solutions but was unable to find anything. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi, 

Did you mean the internet connection type on the Deco X20 is PPPoE?

Have you tried the following suggestions:

  • Remove QoS settings: Deco APP>>>QoS>>>(Set Application priority to Standard, Remove all high priority devices, set the Bandwidth to 1000Mbps upload and 1000Mbps download)
  • Turn off the UPNP feature in the Deco app. Deco APP>More>Advanced>UPNP

 

After that, if you still have the same issue, could you please help me check the following information

1.Can I have a detailed picture of your network topology?

2.May I know who is your internet service provider and what is the model number of your cable modem?

3.If unplugging the switch, connecting the PC to the main Deco X20 directly, would the speed get better?

--if possible, please refer to the following suggestion to help us get detailed information about your computer:

  1. Press WIN+R on the keyboard, type in “cmd” and enter, you will see a small black window.
  2. In the small black window, type in “ipconfig /all” and press enter, the information of your network adapters will be printed.
  3. Please copy the whole content of this window while contacting us, this information would be more helpful when troubleshooting this issue.

I am using the main X20 as ethernet backhaul.

 

QoS is not used, no devices listed. Bandwidth has been left as default (not set). Internet speed test through app shows full gigabit speeds (9xx mbps on multiple tests at different times of day/night).

 

Turning off UPNP feature did not improve speeds.

 

1. Topology is: modem > Deco X20 > gigabit switch > Deco X20/PC/other devices.

2. ISP is Rogers and modem is CODA 4582U.

3. Bypassing the switch results in no connection, error is no ethernet cable plugged in. I've tried several different cables but the result is the same. I've also tried this with a spare PC with same error.  Updated to latest drivers on both PCs. Plugging modem directly to either PCs results in gigabit speeds.
