Model: Archer AX6000
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.2 Build 20210223 rel.78164(5553)

So I recently purchased this wireless router to upgrade my super old one.  I was expecting lighting fast speeds, etc because my old router was like 10 year old.  But instead I've been fighting network drop outs.

My Setup

========================================================

  • Internet Provider - Mediacom
  • Cable Modem - Arris S33
  • Wireless Router - Archer AX6000 v1.0
  • Unmanaged Switch - NetGear GS316

========================================================

Setup with Archer AX6000 is as follows:
========================================================
Outside connection to the the Cable Modem.  Ethernet connection from the 2.5Gbs port on the cable modem to the blue port on the back of the Archer AX6000.  Ethernet connection from port 1 on the Archer AX6000 to the unmanaged switch.

When working form home I have several drop outs per hour.  About 2-3 an hour.

========================================================

Troubleshooting performed:

========================================================

  • I have connected my computer directly to the cable modem and not had any issues with dropping internet
  • I connect my cable modem to the unmanaged switch and did not experience any issue with dropping internet
  • I connect the Archer AX6000 back into the mix and I start having drop outs
  • Replaced Ethernet Cables

On the Archer AX6000 side I have done the following:

========================================================

  • Upgraded to the latest and greatest available firmware
  • Did a factory reset and setup the router again

I'm kind of at a loss as to what to do.  I've been disconnecting the router and just connecting it to the unmanaged switch so I can have a stable working connection when I work from home, and then plugging itback in to get wireless at night.  Let me know if you have any other suggestions.

@Castaspella

What if you connect the cable modem to the AX6000, will the connection be stable? Please test this.

If the above is stable, then connect the NetGear GS316 to the network, and connect a PC to the NetGear GS316, confirm again if the PC can get a correct IP address from the network when there is no internet, show us the IP info on the PC.

@Timmer

Here's what I had to do to correct it.  I had to do a factory reset of both my router and my cable modem.  Once I did that, I haven't been having any issue.  *knock on wood*
