Powerline Speed vs Download Speed
Hi All
Recently got a gigabit connection so pushing up a little from my previous 20mb and have an issue or perhaps a misunderstanding in some of the figures im seeing;
The tp-link app shows my devices connecting (communicating?) at ~500 mbps
However, a speed test result when connected to this is getting me 200mbps max. The same test connected direct to the router and not via the powerline gets me on average 800mbps so I am confident I am not getting a low reading from my provider.
Am I right in thinking I "should" be seeing speeds ~500mbps based on the quality of the powerline connection? Can appreciate some loss depending on wiring and it is an older house.
Would I also be right in thinking that I could see better speeds from newer devices that allow greater speeds? For example, these are rated to 1200mbps but would the 2000mbps devices give me a wider range to work within and thus more speed?
Thanks for any advice.
