I recently updated with latest firmware (TL-WA850RE(EU)_V7_211117) and now my repeater is unusable. it is slow, frequently disconnect and reboot.

 

I'm using in AP mode. Already tryed a factory reset and manual reconfiguration but does't solve.

 

I would like to downgrade it but it seem not possible (I get a configuration error)

 

how to solve? any idea?

Hey @Polpa 

It's a great step to check the log,  when issue occurs, please check router client list see if RE still obtaining IP address from  router ? 

For 'slow, frequently disconnect and reboot.'  can you explain in details for unstable & reboot , how often does happen, how to recover, what is error on Wi-Fi network device? When device reboots, how about the Led status on RE?  

 

  • What is the firmware version prior this firmware update?  Can I have a photo of RE's label showing its hardware version & country version?
  • The network topology like router  model Archer C7 <Ethernet > 850RE in AP mode

Hello @Solla-topee 

 

It is slow as soon I connect to the WA850RE to check the parameters and configuration, some times I have to wait for minutes before be able to login or change between pages. It reboot when I try to login trough webpage or i'm trying to navigate between  different pages.

When it's not working no devices can connect to his network, the wifi network is unavailable, in this condition i'm not able to connect to the RE neither by wifi neither by ethernet so I cannot check his status. I can recover by removing from power and turn it on again.

I can see that sometimes it reboot due to the status leds turn all off, then goes back to on the power, Wireless and Ethernet led.

My router is a router of my internet provider, it is connected via Ethernet to the RE through a ZyXEL GS1100-16 switch.

 

Before the update the version was the TL-WA850RE(EU)_V7_200923, with this version there was no problems but I cannot go back.

Hello   @Polpa 

thank you for more case details ! For your privacy, you could now delete the photo with SN.

 

  • How often does RE reboot, if factory reset it and leave in factory default state ( not connect to wifi router temporarily) check if it reboots ? 
  • RESET: With the extender powered on, use a pin to press the RESET button until most Leds flash once. 
  • May I know what error did you get when try to downgrade firmware? Can I have a photo of the file you try to upload and the error. 

 

What is the model of wifi router, if bpass ZyXEL GS1100-16switch connect RE directly to router and see if RE reboots itself?

Is there any power outage during firmware update or any update failure error?

it reboot frequently when i try to connect to his configuration page.

Connected without the switch in between without improvements.

With factory defaults it works.... but is not what I need.

Already tried mor times to factory reset but sa soon I configure in AP mode I got troubles.

No power outage during firmware updates, I already tried to "reprogram" the FW with the same version but it does not solve.

My router is a "Swisscom, Internet-box 2"

when I'm able to go to the firmware upgrade page i got the following error when I try to downgrade of the firmware:

It come just after I press the Continue button ...even If I try just after a factory reset with default configuration.

 

what about the exceptions I got in the log file?
