Model: Archer AX3000
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.2 Build 20221019 rel.33889(4555)

I am running a local http server on my mac (port 5000).
I have set up my ax3000 router to connect to ipv6.  The ax3000 connects to the ISP via ipv6 and ipv4 using pppoE. The router is connecting to the ipv6 and gets a wan ipv6 address.
I am able to ping the ipv6 address from outside the LAN. Also, i am able to connect to the local http server using its ipv6 address from other computers on the LAN. However, I am not able to connect to my http server ipv6 address when contacting from computers not connected to the LAN.
When I ping from outside the LAN, i am able to ping the router on both the WAN and LAN ipv6 addresses, but not able to ping my mac running the http server.
I think the server is doing some blocking on packets from outside the LAN? I tried turning off the firewall, but still not able to reach the local http server from outside the LAN.

Any ideas how to solve this? Is the router blocking the ipv6 from outside the LAN?

  @batata

Hi,

The answers to your two questions are no and yes.

I can't find the specific thread now, but this has been addressed by TP-Link before.

On most router models that support IPv6 the IPv6 firewall is permanently switched on and is not configurable. Hence it is blocking everything. (apart from pings to the router itself, it appears)

Only the newest router models from TP-Link have some configuration options for the IPv6 firewall. If you want to see how that looks like then you can check out one of their emulators, for example https://emulator.tp-link.com/webpages_BE900_20230404/index.html .
