AX3000 not seeing TL-WPA8631P V3 as an Easymesh device (sort of)

I may be posting this in the wrong section as possibly a router issue but here goes.
My Archer AX53 / AX3000 will recognize my two TL-WPA8631P extenders as Easymesh/Onemesh devices when the extenders are freshly booted.
After a while it stops 'seeing them' as mesh devices, although they are still operating on the network.
Before the update form Onemesh to Easymesh they would appear in the dashboard in the Mesh Devices tab with the yellow circle showing '2' but would regularly disappear and only be reinstated after they were rebooted.
Since the change to Easymesh the same pattern is happening but even though the two extenders are clearly showing in the list (see below) the yellow circle says '0' Mesh devices!?
Does anyone know of a way I can definitively test/verify that my extenders are part of the Mesh network even though the router says they aren't??
Alternatively does anyone know of a solution to fix this odd behaviour?

There are still a few more places that can give you some clues whether they are connected as EasyMesh or not.
1) On the AX53 check from within the "EasyMesh" menu. If you click on the small "edit" icon (paper and pen) it will show the actual link speed of the wireless connection (should be > 0).
2) Log into the web interface of the extender(s) and check if the options in the Wi-Fi menu are all grayed out and locked, which should indicate that the extender is still being managed by the main router.
