Model: Deco
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Couldn't get Deco to connect after a power failure, couldn't get ISP address from Comast, I learned that the modem memory holds the information, so you have to unplug the coaxi cable and unplug both Deco and Modem, reconnect and let the Deco try to obtain an address with the coax off, this will force the Cable modem to release the old address.Unplug them again, reconnect the coax cable plug them both back in and you'll get a vaild address and everything will work again.

ALAS I learned this too late, and before I attmpted that, i tried changing the main deco with a satellite, and then had to rest them and on and on and long story short NEVER DO THAT EVER!!! They come pre-configured and now i'm down 1 satellite because no matter what I do the same satellite, will connect, and then second anything tries to connect, it instantly disconnects, waits about 2 minutes and repeat. I have tried EVERYTHING and there's simply no fixing it. I might as well throw it in the trash, but thankfully I went to Costco so intead I will just swap this now misaligned system for a new pre-confuigured one. Super Annoying

Whomever at TP-link decided it was a good idea to give the customers less options when trying to solve a problem should be taken out back and shot immediately. My choices are too remove from app (failed), remove the entire network which also failed because, YOU CANNOT RESET THE DEVICE ... I've deleted the network, removed from the app, tapped reset for 1 second, and not a nano second longer as that will put it into recovery mode where it will sit for days not doing anything other than show a solid yellow light, You can reset, leave it off for 5 minutes at a time, multiple times and wait for a blue light to search/ find/ reconnect (also doesn't work) and the best part is after you've spent 35 minutes turning it on and off and pressing rest for only 1 second (which is idiotic BTW), it will automatically reconnect before you can do it manually, because your not really changing anything, your locked out, it's a ruse and it's absolutely RUINED this product.

I'm sure when changing main deco's the change in mac addresses alerted Comcast to something and now it's impossible to fix, they say to contact your ISP provider which is also STUPID. They are the ones making it difficult in the first place! They don't want you to be able to fix it. They want to send out their people and charge you $50 for doing nothing and solving nothing when they are now blocking the MAC address because they want us to use their stuff ,,, is there no one @ TP Link who can see the obvious?

All of this trouble, and disappointment because the power went out for 24 hours and now 1/3 of your product is a paperweight with an annoying solid yellow light. I was bragging about how well this product worked and as soon as I did ... disaster

DO NOT CHANGE THE MAIN DECO ONCE YOU'VE COMPLETED THE ORIGINAL SET UP OR YOU"LL BE SORRY!

It makes you wonder how many people have returned this product because of this exact same issue? How much money is lost in that process? Absolutely stupid

@IntheD Hi, Thank you very much for sharing with us. It is not rare for internet service providers to bind the MAC address with the internet service for security concerns, and it has also been shared by other community remembers before My ISP needs MAC address authentication to get internet service. Due to this, Deco APP also supports MAC Clone during the first setup. When it comes to the issue that the internet service suddenly went down, I would first suggest users connect a laptop to the modem to make sure the modem is fine, then try to perform a MAC Clone to see whether it helps. Resetting the Deco or changing a different Deco to the new main Deco would never be the first choice since I have seen sometimes it indeed causes more trouble and the re-configuration of the Deco is not as easy as It sounds.

I do agree that sometimes what we need is just to restart the modem, or unplug/plug a few cables and wait for it to recover. But most times, Its importance hasn't been much emphasized and is easily neglected.  I am sure your post will make this suggestion more persuasive and worth paying attention to in the first place.

By the way, when I checked your TP-Link ID, It seems like all three Deco XE5300 are online now. Are they working properly now?

Thank you very much for your time and patience.

Please feel free to let me know whether you need further assistance or not.

Best regards.
