RE305 loses connection

Model: RE305
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

My RE305 is connected via WiFi to a Speedport Router  Every other day it will drop this connection and all attached devices fail. The location is not very far and the range finding LED is ok with the distance. I am using it as devices a wall further away have connection problems at only 30% receiver strength.

So connecting the RE305 is not a problem initially, but it only lasts afew hours. When I notice, I need to unplug/replug it to reconnect.

I can access/connect to it via the router, but can only see IP and MAC.

What can I do?

Thanks for any help.

  @FredManning

Hi, would the 2.4GHz and 5GHz LEDs on RE305 still light up during the disconnection?

Did you test the Ethernet connection from RE305 as well?

It is also suggested to refer to this link to edit the wireless settings on the Speedport router to see whether it helped:

Recommended settings on the host router to work well with TP-Link Range Extenders

Thank you very much and best regards.

  @David-TP

Hi and thanks for your reply.

2.4GHz and 5GHz LEDs: no, both are off. Only Power is on.

Ethernet connection: No, I don't have anything I can connect via cable.

Also, it's not the connection to attached devices that is the problem, but the connection to the router.

I have not found any MAC settings or limitations on the router. The bands are set to auto and a check shows they are used, but not crowded like the lower bands for some reason.

The router is new and I have never really used the extender up until now. I also have an RE230, but that worked even less.

The distance is not that far, NetSignal says it's around -68 dB at that location.

I simply can't figure out why it should lose the connection after a day or so.

Thanks
