Model: Archer AX20
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Hi,

I'm facing a problem that I've been dealing for more than 2 weeks.

IOT devices (Tasmota plugs, on ESP8266 chips), get disconnected from Wifi.

What I know for sure:

1. It is not an individual device issue - they disconnect almost simultaneously ( 2 devices at the test).

2. it is not a low wifi signal/ distance - on of the iot's is very close to router.

3. it happens only on this specific router - an old Edimax router does not have this phenomena.

4. Router side (all below did not solve):

4.1 reset to factory settings.

4.2 all TWT, Smart connect ans similar features - disabled.

4.3 5Ghz band disabled.

4.4 Different SSID for 2.4GHz and 5GHz

4.5 disable ax (staying only b/g/n/ac).

4.6 designated a fixed 2.4GHz channel.

4.7 verified firmware is up-to-date.

5. Reboots:

5.1 iot device's reboot- does not reconnect.

5.2 router's reboot - solve the problem immediately.

6. Disconnect-

6.1 Happens simultanously - on both iot devices.

6.2 timing is not constant - Can be connected for hours, and be disconnected for many hours ( 2-3 times a day ).

6.3 during this "disconnection period"  there is no ISP , LAN, or other 2.4GHz issues.

Anything ?

A lead from googling it - disable DOS . Didn't try it yes.

According to router HW version, make sure that you're with the latest FW release for your device.

You can set a static wireless channel for 2.4 GHz band (i.e. 1, 6 or 11) to check if there's any difference.

AFAIK AX20 doesn't have a DoS protection implemented.

Do you have only these two devices (ESP8266) on the 2.4GHz band ?

If there are other devices connected do they behave the same or not ?

  @terziyski

1. FW is up-to-date.

2. Already tried to set to a fixed channel after scanning for best channel.

Still - now change

Hi, only the iOT devices disconnect from the 2.4G WiFi, other regular 2.4G client devices are always working fine on the same WiFi, right?

May I know how many client devices are usually connected to the router and what are they?

Please let us know the hardware and firmware version of your AX20 router, we would like to forward your case to senior engineer for debugging.

  @Sunshine

Hi

Yes, only IOT devices (2 out of 2 in that case)- my macbook works fine (this is the reason why I name the 2.4GHz band differently).

2.4Ghz client - now only 2 ( iot ). added my macbook only for testing purposes.

5GHz clients - about 5.

LAN - Desktops, TV, NAS - about 10.

adding a snapshot of FW installed :FW snapshot

Attached 2 WireShark snapshots: First is the beginning of disconnect 21:53:03

And reconnect at 22:01:29

wire shark between that time - have the exact same messages.

Both IOT devices disconnec and reconnect almost rhe exact same time.

Thanks for the wireshark information, I've also forwarded it to the senior engineer, hope they could find some clue.

And if any solution or issue can be found, please let the community know.

  @Sunshine

after some more days of investigation I can share the following screenshot:

1) using home assistant - showing graphic connection ( wifi and MQTT server).

2) lower graph is the second IOT device.

3) you can see the similarity in discon/reconnet of iot's.

BUT I've noticed some pattern - small rectangles were exactyl 1:59:30 hrs. Correlative to lease time, 120 minutes,

So, I changed it to 720 minutes, and almost 18 hours with no long-period disconnects, but it does hangs up some time, and reconnects again.

I don't this it solves the issue but it has another thing to think about.

Do note that second IOT device (lower graph) behaves exactly like the first one (so it is not a specific behaviour of a device).
