Guest network not working with Deco X50 connected to Deco X50-4G
Guest network not working with Deco X50 connected to Deco X50-4G
I have a new, Deco X50-4G working in router mode using a 4G Sim. I've then got 3 X50 mesh units connected to it either wirelessly or with ethernet backhaul.
Standard wifi network works fine across the house, but I can only connect to the guest network when within range of the X50-4G unit. I assume this means the guest SSID is not being relayed through the mesh.
Is there any way to set up the guest network so it is accessible across the mesh? I'm not familiar with network setup, but this may be helpful to know: I can only see an option in the guest network to change the VLAN ID. (Defaults to 591.) I can't see an option for IPTV/VLAN in the main advanced settings.

Installing the beta firmware (X50-4G V1 20230831 rel 42115) fixed the problem. Thanks!
Just for completeness, here's my network setup. (There are no switches):
X50-4G --- cable --- X50 #1
Then both X50 #2 and X50 #3 connect wirelessly to X50 #1.
Hardware and (existing) firmware were as follows:
| Hardware | Version | Firmware |
| -------- | ------- | ------------------------------- |
| X50-4G | EU/1.0 | 1.1.2 Build 20230619 Rel. 38462 |
| X50(EU) | V1.0 | 1.4.1 Build 20231122 Rel. 40485 |
I forgot to mention that I could see the guest network SSID from any X50 mesh unit, but could only connect to the X50-4G. With the other units I just got the error "IP configuration failed".
Now, with the beta firmware installed, the guest network wifi works fine at any unit.
Thanks again!

Hi, welcome to the community.
Can I have a picture of your network diagram/topology, such as:
Deco X50-4G---<Wi-Fi>---Deco X50#1
\---<cable>----Deco X50#2
\---<cable>----Deco X50#2
Would there be any network switches here? If yes, can I have its model number?
I also sent a beta firmware for Deco X50-4G and please try to install the beta firmware to see whether it helped with the current issue.
Wait for your reply and best regards.

I am having a similar issue. I have three x50 pros connected by cable to a x50-4G. I can connect to the guest network directly from the 4G, but not from the x50 Pros.
Is this again a firmware issue?
Deco x50 4G - 1.1.1 build 20240110 rel.54606
Deco x50 pro - 1.3.1 build 20240422 rel.62279
Thanks in advance

@_SkaMan_ have you had any luck with this? I have an X-50 4G connected to two X-50 PoE (by separate ethernet cables). Between the main unit and the PoE unit there is a 5-port PoE switch (TP-LINK TL-SG105PE). I have the same issue: the guest network stops providing internet as soon as you use ethernet cables as backhaup instead of wifi.
Main unit firmware: 1.1.3 Build 20231228 Rel. 60959
PoE unit firmware: 1.2.5. Build 20231122 Rel. 58711

@PaulMM I am having the same problem with a X50-5G and some X50s connected via ethernet backhaul.
How can I access the beta firmware to see if it solves it?

@Thomas9191 no, I ended up sending them an email... I'm still waiting for a resolution.

@PaulMM I also sent an email and I'm still waiting for a reply.
This is – by far – the worse customer service I have seen in my life. They stopped replying to e-mails more than one month ago and don't even answer the phone.
This basic setup with all hardware tp-link simply doesn't work for this very basic scenario. Unbelievable.

Hi, Thank you very much for the message.
The latest firmware 1.1.7 for Deco X50-5G_V1 should fix this issue already.
If you haven't updated to this version, please install the firmware manually via web interface:
Deco X50-5G(EU)_V1_1.1.7 Build 20240809
Wait for your reply and best regards.

@David-TP this worked! thank you so much!
I was trying to solve this since july and trying to get in touch with someone from TP Link for more than a month.
Finally a solution.
Thank you!

@David-TP now most of the times the guest network is working but sometimes it just loses internet connection. switching to the main network I get internet access.
this is way harder to debug as it's a bit random.
Is this a known issue?
Thank you
