Hi everyone,

I'm going to replace my old modem/router which are connected to Fibre ONT. The old router has its Wifi turned off and I'm relying on Deco M5 for Wifi connection.

I'm going to replace the old modem/router and currently looking at TP-Link AXE5400 or Archer AX80 which has a 4 Gig ports.

My question is: Can I use the same SSID name for both the new router and and Deco M5?For example, existing Wifi SSID of DecoM5 is ABC321; Wifi SSID of new router is also ABC321.

Would this create some connection issues? Thank you.

Neither one of new routers is going to join Deco mesh. You can have same SSID, but it is like deploying two independent WiFi routers with same SSID. You can google to find why having two independent from each other WiFi routers broadcasting same SSID it is not the optimal solution in many cases.

You had WiFi turned off on old router for a reason, same reason applies to new router.
