Model: Deco X50-5G
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.7 20240809 Rel. 18610

Hello,

I have recently moved my Deco network from having X50-5G as main deco to "normal" X50...

New world has opened for me when I did - there are were more icons to select from in the App, there is ability to configure VPNs, Eco mode, matter devices, camera security and even HomeShield felt a bit nicer and more useful. The only thing missing (and I expected that) was having backup mobile connection.

I had to switch back to X50-5G (mobile connection backup is unfortunatelly important to me) and Deco app (and network features) are sad and ugly again.

It there an official statement or comment from TP-Link why this is that way? And if it will ever change.

Any real comparison between features available in X50-5G and X50 when using one or other as main Deco?

Hi, welcome to the community.

I noticed your Deco X50 is V1 and it is recommended to install the 1.6.0 firmware here which supports "Hybrid Mesh Backup Mode"

Deco X50/X55_V1-1.6.0 Supports Internet Backup, Hybrid-Mesh and DOH/DOT

Wait for your reply and best regards.

  @David-TP thanks.
I upgraded the software on X50 to 1.6.0 and, indeed, there is a backup option for internet backup but it only seems to show "Hotspot Backup Mode". Even when my X50-5G is a sattelite in the Deco Mesh, I still do not see options for "Hybrid Mesh Backup Mode" that I suppose I should be configuring in this case.
Do I need to upgrade X50-5G as well?  It is still running official "1.1.7 Build 20240809 Rel. 18610" since Beta software did not list X50-5G as compatible with this version (to be honest, it also did not list it as not compatible.
Scrrens on the page must be from iPhone app since mine are a bit different on Android (version  3.8.49).

WAN port is fixed (to 1) as suggested in the instructions and X50-5G has a SIM card in. The X50-5G and other two X50 satellites are all using Internet Backhoul and all looks fine. Just the backup mode I hoped for is not present as option...

Hi, Thanks for the feedback.

"Even when my X50-5G is a satellite in the Deco Mesh, I still do not see options for "Hybrid Mesh Backup Mode"

- Can you share a screenshot that there is no "Hybrid Mesh Backup Mode" on the Android APP for me?

- Please also send me a picture of the network map here:

- After that, Please help me submit the Deco APP log: How to submit Deco APP log

I think it only requires the firmware support on the main Deco X50_v1

Wait for your reply and best regards.
