Model: Archer AX55
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

Hi, I just got my hands on a new Archer ax55 router that I set it up to work offline (no internet) because all I want it for for now is a local network, I disabled smart connect to be able to decide to which network (2.4 or 5) I want every device to be connected to. To my surprise the 2.4 Ghz either doesn't show up at all or it does show up but can't connect to it. I tried changing the channel, the width and even the wireless mode but all I got is that it does show up more often but I still can't connect to it. The only instance I was able to get my phone to connect to it is when I literally put it on top of the router, but my pc that is about 2 meters away can't connect to it and the same for my android tv that's in the other room. On ther hand, the 5 Ghz network works as intended. I tried reseting the router a few times but I'm faces with the same issues. I did also update the router to the latest firmware. Help please.

  @Veoxer

I suggest the following.

Disconnect everything from the Archer AX55 except the power cord.

Reset the AX55 to factory default settings by pressing and holding the small "Reset" button on the rear side for about 8 seconds. (until all LEDs turn on momentarily)

Wait until the AX55 has booted up again following the reset. Then try with at least two different wireless devices whether you are able to connect to the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. The SSID you are looking for (something like "TP-Link_****") and the wireless password are printed on the label on the underside of the AX55.

If none of the two wireless devices is able to connect to or even see the default SSID of the 2.4 GHz network, then I suppose your Archer AX55 must be faulty.

Hi,

Please check if all the devices are having trouble connecting to the 2.4G.

And change the wireless settings on 2.4G, make sure that no specifical characters there that may affect it. And please also change the channel.

If all the devices cannot see the 2.4G WIFI in the WIFI list, you can also disable the WIFI and then enable it again, or reboot the router.

If it still cannot help, please reset the router and test again.

  @Sunshine Indeed like I mentioned all the devices have trouble connecting to the 2.4ghz network when they're a little bit far from the router, but the 5 Ghz network works everywhere in the appartment which is very strange since the 2.4 ghz network is the one that's supposed to have a bigger range. I tried disabling the wifi, restarting the router and resetting it but still nothing changed ...

Hi,

Do you happen to have any USB 3.0-capable device plugged into the USB port of your Archer AX55? In case you do, remove it and then test the 2.4 GHz again.
