Last night, I noticed a firmware update was available for my Deco X60 system via the Deco app. After successfully installing the update, my internet speed dropped drastically from the usual 300 Mbps to just 3 Mbps, such connection speed is almost unusable.

I have confirmed that the issue is not with my internet connection, as I can still achieve 300 Mbps using a direct Ethernet connection.

 

I’ve tried several troubleshooting steps, including:

  • Rebooting the Deco units.
  • Power cycling (disconnecting and reconnecting power cables).
  • Checking and reconnecting all Ethernet cables.

 

Unfortunately, none of these steps resolved the issue. It’s clear that this problem was caused by the recent firmware update.

From other forum threads, it seems a factory reset might resolve this, but that would be extremely inconvenient and disruptive.

I strongly urge TP-Link to thoroughly test firmware updates before releasing them to users. This situation has caused unnecessary frustration and inconvenience. Please advise if there’s a less disruptive fix for this issue.

Omg, after hours of troubleshooting—including factory resets and even upgrading the firmware again—I finally discovered the issue.

The firmware update automatically enabled QoS (Quality of Service), and within the QoS settings, the "Total Bandwidth" was inexplicably set to just 0.5 Mbps for both upload and download.

 

As soon as I turned off the QoS feature, everything returned to normal.

 

This automated activation of QoS during the firmware update is both unexpected and nonsensical. It wasted hours of my time and caused unnecessary frustration.

 

TP-Link, please ensure that such changes are either properly communicated or better handled in future updates. This experience has been extremely inconvenient!

Same issue here with X60 V3 (3 pack). Its completely unusable after the update of this week. I tried installing some beta software of hopes to fix the issue but to no avail.

Is there any fix for this? Currently do not have internet acces at home because of this update...

As I mentioned in my last thread, I discovered that the issue was caused by QoS (Quality of Service) being automatically enabled during the firmware update, with its "Total Bandwidth" settings throttling speeds to just 0.5 Mbps.

 

Could you try checking your QoS settings and see if this fix works for your case as well?
