Hi everybody,

I had a completely wireless setup using two decos, but I've had intermittent problems with them losing connection to eachothers so I built an ethernet backhaul. Everything has been working much better since then except for the guest network which doesn't have any internet unless the device I'm using is currently connected to the main Deco.

I've been looking through the forums and the internet and found out the problems with managed switches, so I've made sure that the switches between the deco units are unmanaged... But I still get no internet on devices connected to the guest network on the secondary device.

Basically the internet goes to the main deco. The main deco then goes to the ethernet backhaul that is being handled by the upper right unmanaged switch which splits off to three switches (where two are managed). It also goes to a third switch that is unmanaged and connects to the secondary Deco unit.

There SHOULDN't be any management issues between the two Deco-units... But somehow there still are. What am I doing wrong?

Just a suggestion: what if you power off both managed switches, so that you only have  two unmanaged switches up.

After that:

1. Will Secondary Deco still use Ethernet backhaul?

2. Will Guest Network problem disappear?

@Giddorah Hey! Thanks for the suggestion.

I followed your advice and disconnected the two managed switches and to my surprise my internet stopped working for my main network as well...

This stumped me a bit, so I started thinking.

I have a pi-hole connected to one of the managed switches... Which when I disconnected the switch was disconnected from the network entirely which in turn made no devices able to reach the DNS-server (duh)...

I am guessing this is also why my guest network wasn't working in the first place, since the DNS-server (pi-hole) was set as the DNS server for the network. No problems on the main network since those machines can speak to eachothers, but the guest devices can't speak to devices on the main devices since they are isolated.

So I'm kind of changing this "ticket" to instead be:

How can I make my guest network work together with a pi-hole on my main network? :)

I really appreciate the idea though!
