Archer AX55 beamforming off

Hi there, I believe I have a problem with the beamforming function on my Archer AX55. When I turn on my wifi extender, it cannot connect to the AX55. I assume this is because the router does not expect it to be there and has not sent enough signal to the extender. When I carry my laptop computer (connected to the AX55 via wifi) to a position close to the wifi extender, it connects just fine.
How do I turn off beamforming on the AX55?

Hi@Tulloch,
May I know if your network topology diagram is as follows:
Main router —AX55))((( extender )))((( client devices
(Note: — stands for wired connection,)))((( stands for wireless connection )
Can I know the model of the extender? Is this your first time configuring the extender? If not, and the extender is connected to a new router, please reset the extender first.
Do you mean that the PC can detect and connect to the Archer AX55 network normally? If so, the problem is most likely with the extender. Please contact the extender's support for advice first.

@Joseph-TP The extender is a Wavlink AC1200 device. It connects to the Archer and extends its range to our back yard and garage.
Previously we had a different main Wifi router which neded to be replaced and we never had a problem with the Wavlink. NEVER.
Now the Wavlink extender only connects to the Archer AX55 when a laptop (connected to the Archer) is near to it. How do I turn off beamforming on the Archer AX55?

Hi @Tulloch,
Please check that did you enable MU-MIMO feature? If yes, please turn it off.
1. Go to Advanced > Wireless > Wireless Settings.
2. Make sure Smart Connect is disabled, and enable MU-MIMO for the corresponding
band.
Note: MU-MIMO works only on the 5 GHz band and thus is not available when Smart Connect is enabled.

@Joseph-TP thanks, my router doesn't have a MU-MIMO setting. It does have OFDMA, is that the same thing?
Smart Connect is off.

Hi@Tulloch,
OFDMA is different from MU-MIMO, it enables multiple users to transmit data simultaneously, and thus greatly improves speed and efficiency. Noted that only when your clients also support OFDMA, can you fully enjoy the benefits.
If you don't see MU-MIMO, it means your hardware version does not support this feature. In addition, have you set up any network sharing related functions on your PC? What are they specifically?
If you turn off the PC, can the range extender access the network normally?
