Very low wi-fi performance

My main computer is hard wired cable into modem into router when I do a speed test on my computer I get 54.33 mbps, when I do a speed test on wife's computer which is connected by wi-fi speed reads 0.56 mbps
when my son does speed test in the same room as the router using his I-phone 5 he get 3.44mbps
could anyone explain this and suggest a solution please
by the way signal strength on all wi-fi machines is very good
