I’m running into a strange issue with my TP-Link smart plugs not appearing correctly in the Deco app and I’m curious if anyone else has experienced this or found a solution.

I have several TP-Link Kasa EP10 Smart Plug and TP-Link Kasa EP40 Outdoor Smart Plug devices connected to my TP-Link Deco network.

All of the plugs are fully functional:

  • They appear as online in the Kasa Smart app

  • They also show up and work normally in the Tapo app

  • They respond instantly to Alexa routines and voice commands

  • I can toggle them on/off with no delay

So from a device and connectivity standpoint everything is working perfectly.

However, the problem is that the plugs do not appear correctly in the TP-Link Deco app.

Here is exactly what happens:

  • The plugs do not show up in the “Online Clients” list

  • They also do not appear in the “Smart Home” section

  • If I restart the entire Deco network, the plugs will briefly appear

  • But when they appear, they show as “offline”

  • After a short time they disappear from the list entirely again

To try to troubleshoot this I did the following:

• Assigned manual IP reservations in Deco for each plug using their MAC addresses
• Confirmed that each plug successfully picks up its reserved IP after unplugging and plugging it back in
• Verified again that the plugs remain fully controllable in the Kasa and Tapo apps

Despite this, the Deco app still does not recognize them as online clients.

At this point it seems like:

  • The devices are definitely connected to the network

  • They are receiving their assigned IP addresses

  • They are communicating with TP-Link services

  • But the Deco client list is somehow failing to track them properly

The only time they appear in Deco is immediately after restarting the Deco network, and even then they appear as offline before disappearing again.

Has anyone else experienced this with Kasa devices on Deco networks?

I’m trying to figure out whether this is:

  • Deco client detection bug

  • Something related to IoT device behavior or power-saving

  • Or a known issue with Kasa devices not reporting properly to Deco

Any insight or suggestions would be appreciated.
