iPhone temporarily drops X55 connection / DHCP issue?
Thursday
Model: Deco X55
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.3.1 Build 20251122 Rel. 36074

I have a mesh network with Deco X55 units.

Sometimes my iPhone devices will temporarily drop the wifi connection for a minute or two while I am using it. This occurs while I am sitting (not moving around) with a strong wifi signal.

If I check my iPhone wifi settings when this happens, the phone sees the deco wifi ssid, but it shows a generic IP address for my device (169.xxxxxxxxx). After a few minutes the connection resumes and my device IP address is updated (192.168.xxx.xxx).

This issue affects every iPhone device in my

home. No other devices are affected.

iPhone settings are:

- private wifi address (private MAC) is OFF

- IP settings (dhcp) is automatic

Deco settings are:

- router setup

- security is WPA2

- dhcp server is enabled

- QoS is disabled

- parental controls are disabled

- fast roaming and beam forming are on

- mesh technology for this device is on

- preferred band is auto

Hi,
You can try the following steps and see if they help.

  1. Please try turning off the Fast Roaming and Beamforming features on the Deco, turning off the Mesh Technology switch for the iPhone, and check if this helps.
  2. Try enabling the 2.4 GHz IoT network and connect the iPhone to it. Does the iPhone work properly?
  3. How often does the drop phenomenon occur?

Best Regards
