Deco M9 Plus - Wireless security / Lack of options
Deco M9 Plus - Wireless security / Lack of options
I am having issues on newer Android devices that will not allow voice-over-wifi (VoWiFi) when the access point allows WPA2-TKIP. Giving the vulnerabilities with TKIP, I think this is very reasonable. The issue is that there doesn't appear to be a way to disable this in the Deco software (both TKIP and AES are presented to clients).
VoWiFi is critical for us, so I would like to know there is anything I can do to rectify it.

Hello all, thanks very much for your patiently waiting and support.
Our developers recently have provided a beta firmware for the Deco devices, which allows you to change the wireless security type for your Deco network, here is the download link if you are willing to update it:
https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/227662
Note: Ensure you are running the latest Deco app on your phone first, Android version 2.2.1, and iOS 2.2.2.

@Cabuzzi
Normally, if a device support WPA2-AES encryption, when it connects to the Deco network, Deco will work with the device using WPA2-AES encryption.
As you know, there is no option to disable the TKIP encryption on the Deco now.
But we will keep recording the same kind of request. Then we can forward it to our product engineer and they can work on it.
If there are any updates, we will upload it to our official website. It is very suggested to keep an eye on the official website and wait for the updates.
Good day.

@TP-Link_Deco
Thanks for the offer to forward this onto an engineer. As I posted in another TP-Link thread, WPA/TKIP has no place in a modern mesh AP like the Deco M9s.

Hi. I have the M9 Plus v1.1 (US). Which firmware update should I use - the v1 or v2? Thanks.

I just noticed this!
I just openedy Deco app to see which version I'm on (Android 2.2.1) and noticed there's a non-beta firmware update available.
Should I apply that first?
Also, my M9 units are version 1.2. Just wanted to verify I need version 1 of the firmware.
Thanks,
Chris
