So I have not yet installed this but wondering if a smart dimmer can "dim" a lamp plugged into a smart plug or socket?  Or can it only dim lights directly connected to the switch?  I realize you can use a smart bulb to do that,

@AceDude You can put a dimmer between the smart plug and the lamp, but you probably can't put a dimmer between the wall power and the smart plug - most wifi devices will operate poorly on anything but full power (220V might work down to 115V but after that it'll definitely be an issue).

You can put a smart dimmer between the plug and lamp - it'll power up and connect when you turn the plug on and be ready for use after a short while but while the plug is off it'll be dead.  A dumb dimmer would be a better choice and will work properly.
