Moderator Note:

1. The availability of Speed Limit or Bandwidth Control may vary by region even for the same model. Please check your local website for more information.

2. If you cannot find the VPN Client feature on your router in the above product list, check and update your router firmware to the latest version.
3. The above list might not include all models and hardware versions. It is recommended to keep watching the firmware releases for your router, as the Speed Limit feature will be listed in the patch notes if/when it is added to your version.

What is Speed Limit/Bandwidth Control?

Speed Limit is a new feature that has been brought to some Archer AX routers, such as Archer AX73 and AX4400. Some TP-Link fellow users may call it Bandwidth Control. Speed Limit gives you the permission to assign a specific download and upload speed for each device that connects to the router, you can then restrict how much of the speed the program or hardware is allowed to use at maximum.

How to use Speed Limit/Bandwidth Control?

Cannot wait to give it a try? Follow this guide below to configure it and see how it helps with the network performance:

You can also assign a specific bandwidth for the Guest Network, and set an effective time for it. Visit this guide to see how to achieve that:

@Kevin_Z Looks like EU version of the AX73 doesn't have this feature yet, it's one firmware version behind, do you expect this to come to the EU version as well?

Hello @IceBear, thanks for asking.

The availability of Speed Limit or Bandwidth Control may vary by region. Please check with your local website for more information. As far as I can confirm, the new feature is still not available for the AX73 EU version, please wait and check for the updates later.

@Kevin_Z Don't really understand where is the issue of adding this to EU version, it is basicaly same router, but US version recevied this 4 months ago and EU version for some unexplained reason still not. And only answer you are posting on simmilar post is "please wait".

Can you be at least that respective to your customer and let us know when will it come, and if not, why not?

  @Nikonja

I'll say more. They made support for the torrent client and cellular modems for the region of RU, but they refuse to do this for other regions.

So every region has different software with different functionalities ?? WTF?

What happens if you flash it with differnet region firmware?

@Nikonja Apparently TP-Link US and EU make their own firmware, although they cross share some things no doubt, apparently they're separate divisions.

Not sure about RU though.
You'll only be able to flash the version of firmware that your HW model is listed as - you'll find this on the back of the router or in it's admin page at the bottom.

This is also why https://community.tp-link.com/en is for Global (rest of world) and https://community.tp-link.com/us is for US only hardware. Sucks I know :/ but I imagine it's for legislation type stuff...

@Kevin_Z The availability of Speed Limit and Bandwidth Control may differ from one region to the next. For more information, please see the website of your local government. I can confirm that the new feature is still not available for the AX73 EU edition as of this writing. Please continue to wait and check back later for an update.

@meharg It can not be connected to local legislation when competition is offering same stuff, so there is something else what none from TpLink doesn't want to address!
