Under Consideration Manually deleting video from SD card
Just set up TC85 cameras and have them successfully recording events to the SD card. Is there a way to manually delete unwanted videos from the card using the App? Or does the until keep recording/storing files until full, then begins to overwrite the oldest one first without any way to do manual cleanup?

You can format using the app, but that's not a good workaround for deleting unwanted recordings.

Are Tapo really doubling down on this? There is now a link on the local storage page in the app effectively stating that local storage is unreliable, including failure to recognise the card, failure to overwrite existing files. This effectively makes loop recording useless.
This is getting dishonest. If you are not going to support ab SD card, do not add the slot. To add one but not support it is dishonest.

Lack of this ability exposes users to breaching the UK GDP laws that say video recordings of members of the public (ie from a doorbell camera) mustn't be retained. As already mentioned, there is a legal requirement to remove specific videos if requested (by the police).
I created another thread specifically mentioning the legal aspect and got a lengthy and non-commital answer.
I am also an ex-developer and I know how easy (and quick) this is to do, so it's obviously a policy decision.

Tapo needs to implement a manual SD card video delete function.. that allows user to delete individual clips without having to reformat the sd card. Other cameras have this functionality.
