Changing wifi networks once set up?
Hey,
I have several Tapo cameras set up outside, how do I change the wifi network they are connected to currently - to another wifi network (extender) I have closer with stronger signal?

@andrea00 misinformation? I just reset 8 cameras and did it all from the app. Super easy.
As a matter of fact, it was just as easy as changing the WiFi directly in the app would have been - if it were an option.
what a lot of complainers!

@Solla-topee It is totally ridiculous I have to completely reset all my camera's to factory default to be able to change my wifi password. My 8 year old son has revealed the wifi password to others and now I need to change my network wifi password meaning I have to go outside in the cold to climb up to the tapo cams to unscrew the tiny cap on each of the camera's and then reset and re-install them one by one. This is truly a 1990's approach. I'm happy with my tapo cams but if I had know this in advance I would never have bought them. And certainly will not add anything to my setup until this has been resolved.

I bought a TAPO C402 camera and find it is a pain to switch to a different WiFi. Very disappointed.

Faced with the daunting task of resetting all my Tapo devices and a bunch of other things connected to my old WiFI router, I renamed my new router to the same name and gave it the same password. Problem solved in an instant.

@Solla-topee It is frustrating. I quess its a security or just cheaper to be this way. It is the same with Echo Dots, All the Wyze Cams I know and was hoping TPLing would be better. :( I have Wyze cams and was considering replacing with Tapo Spots because I have several Kasa smart plugs (which are great). The Wyze cams I have are also great, but I was hoping for a better experience. Its a pain to get to each camera (on ladders and what-not) to press and hold a reset button then go through the entire setup process again...for each one.

FML...I have 35 devices between kasa and tapo. I have to rebuild everything from scratch. I had 2 older routers and I'm consolodating down to 1 new one so I can't carry over both SSIDs, and I changed the SSID to a more anonymous name. The cameras are the issue, I just did one. Resetting it means I have to turn back on vehicle and pet detection, adjust the zones again, I even had one that had rstp configured...all of my configurations just blown away. I'll probably have to rebuild all the smart actions as well. As a software engineer...I see this as a major issue. A simple Android feature to "move all my devices to this SSID" would be nice.

Dear friend, I have installed over 8 cameras of this specific type across various client locations. Many of these units are positioned at significant heights (10–15 feet).
A recurring operational issue arises when a client updates their Wi-Fi SSID or password: the camera's application access is severed. This necessitates a maintenance call-out to reconfigure each device individually. The current process requires us to use a ladder, physically access every camera, and perform a manual hardware reset.
This is a serious design flaw in the camera module. We have experience with several other brands and vendors of Wi-Fi cameras, and they universally offer the essential feature of updating the Wi-Fi configuration directly through the mobile application.
To clarify: the reconfiguration process is not a trivial one-minute task. Depending on the installation scenario, it can take 10–15 minutes per camera to complete the physical reset process. These are practical observations based on field experience, not complaints.
It appears you may be an employee of TP-Link. If so, I respectfully request that instead of defending the current product, you convey this critical feedback directly to your development team. We sincerely hope a firmware update can address this significant usability issue.
Best Regards
