Model: Deco M9 Plus   Deco X60
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.6.3

Hi

Quick question, I have a Deco M9 plus as my main Deco connected to my ISP Fibre modem, my second Deco which is a X60 is in the middle of the house and will take most of the wifi traffic, its connected via ethernet backhaul to the M9 plus, problem I have is the X60 only has wifi 5 and no wifi 6, is this a restriction because I'm using the M9 plus as the main router?

Reason for using M9 plus as main router is for the Homecare as opposed to the HomeSheild on the X60.

Thanks

Kevin

  @klipse

Hi, nice to see you again.

The WiFi signal broadcasted by Deco X60 should still support 802.11ax. May I know how you discovered that Deco X60 only has WiFi 5, not WiFi 6?

Have you saved any pictures of that?

Thank you very much and wait for your reply.

  @David-TP

Hello David

Thanks for your reply, I have resolved this now, I had recently swapped my main Deco from the X60 back to the M9 plus, once I rebooted the X60 the wifi 6 came back on.

My work laptop is wifi 6 capable so by looking at the wifi connection properties I could see the "protocol" was wifi 5.

All seems good now and very happy with my X60 Deco.

Thank you

Kevin

@David-TP

Following this post my Deco X60 has been working well, however there are times when the X60 loses connectivity to the network and reconnects, this is fine as i know the reason for the loss of connectivity. (Ethernet backhaul drops to wifi backhaul etc)

The issue I have is that there does seem to be a bug in the X60 firmware, so when it loses network connectivity to the main Deco for whatever reason, X60 loses 802.11ax protocol, and reverts to 802.11ac protocol. I did mention this in my previous post but didn't think much of it at the time however after this happening a few times now I realise its probably not meant to be like this.

In order to restore 802.11ax protocol I need to reboot the X60 only and this is then resolved. Some pictures below from my wifi 6 capable work laptop.

First picture - after network connectivity is lost X60 wifi protocol changes to wifi 5.

Second picture - after a reboot of the X60 wifi protocol changes back to wifi 6.
