Solution Doorbell Video Call Options For iOS Devices
This Article Applies To
Users of the Tapo iOS App with Tapo Doorbell
Background
In the recent update, the doorbell video call feature of the doorbell device has been further optimized and enhanced. Unlike the previous push notification format, with this feature enabled, you will now receive a doorbell video call on your phone similar to an incoming phone call. This ensures you won't miss any doorbell rings due to not noticing a push notification.
We also understand that some users prefer the push notification format. Don't worry, you can freely choose whether to enable the doorbell video call feature.
- Android users can adjust the settings via this path: Tapo App -> Doorbell Device Settings page -> Doorbell -> Doorbell Video Call.
On the iOS system, the doorbell video call feature utilizes the iOS CallKit system, the feature on&off control is not allowed on the App level. Therefore, the current form of the doorbell video call feature cannot be disabled. [Workaround available]

We are on 3.7.113 on android 12 and 3.7.108 on IOS 16.7.10.
Tapo hubs are on version 1.3.6
The ios app user is a guest, and android user the admin.
Video call is disabled for doorbell but the iPhone still gets video calls.
As the IOS user is a guest they lack permissions to change push/video call.
As others have mentioned this is annoying to have video call by default on IOS, and nothing works to swap this to push only.

The type of notifications received by the guest account should be the same as that of the main account.
In your case, please stop sharing the device first. Then delete and reinstall the Tapo app on the invitee's phone. After completion, share the doorbell again, and it should return to normal.
How to stop device sharing: Go to device's page in the Tapo app > Device Sharing > click the account you want to stop sharing > click Delete.

There is a plan to open permission for invitee accounts to select their preferred notification type for doorbell-pressed events. Check here for more details. Choose Tapo Doorbell Notification Type for Shared Device - Tapo Doorbell Ring Call
