  @Grahamu

Switch to the built-in sensor and set an offset, test whether this situation still occurs.

Thank you for the various input/suggestions for using the KE100s. However, having now given them a good test in the way I want to use them in my house (multiple KE100s, grouped by room, driven by T315s) we still haven't found a way to get around this 'premature valve closing' issue before the target room temperature is achieved.

Sadly, particularly given the extensive amount of other Tapo/Kasa equipment we already have, I think we will have to give up on using the KE100s to control our 15-20 radiators and try a different test with some other smart TVRs before making our big purchase. I had really hoped to stick with all Tapo/Kasa hardware and software but, in this case, it doesn't do the job (at the moment).

@Wayne-TP I have lots of issues with the temperature control - described in my other post. But I also have the same issue as described here - in my case most visible in bathroom that has a single valve and uses internal temperature sensor. It always keeps about 0.5C below set temperature , often shutting down entirely (which is another story) - these valves really need some serious firmware update.

@Wayne-TP

I also have this issue and from days of testing and faffing on what is supposed to be a smart solution during snowy days.

I am now 100% sure that the algorithm is a one size fits all that works when outside is not too cold but completely fails in cold snowy weather because when you turn the valve off in snowy weather there is no overshoot to compensate since the room immediately starts dropping in temperature to the point that its 0.5C out of target temperature but the increments set by the app is an entire celcius rather than 0.5C on all my other thermostats (https://community.tp-link.com/en/smart-home/forum/topic/646350) so now I am either too hot or too cold by 0.5C.
