Hello,

I have been reading and researching this for hours and still not 100% clear on the answer. Im trying to install a HS210 in the middle, between the 'dumb' switch and light, like in the figure.

I don't understand how to power the HS210 or install in a manner where the dummy switch doesn't control the power to the HS210. I understand that this may not work due to the line and load being in the middle. thanks in advance.

would replacing both switches solve the problem?

thank you in advance.

The neutral wire is required to install the HS210 switch, it is used to power the smart switch to make sure it is always online and achieve smart control. If there is no neutral wire in your circuit, the HS210 cannot be installed.

A single HS210 can work with a dumb three-way switch. In this case, the HS210 should connect to the line wire and the dumb three-way switch to the load wire.
