I assume you're not connecting 120v from the Kasa switch to your garage door opener to trigger the close/open ... how are you wiring that up? Thanks, Ohwee

  @Ohwee-K

Most (if not all) Garage Door Openers simply close two contacts in a momentary fashion (such as pressing buttons on a remote or going directly to an opener mounted inside the garage) to Open/Close.  I connect the Kasa Smart Switch to an AC Relay so I can momentarily energize the relay using the Kasa app and Smart Switch.  The relay is connected to my Garage Door electronics module (or Gate or anything requiring a momentary connection) so when the Relay is energized, the Relay closes two contacts. In all my applications the Relay is connecting 'something' to Ground, aka shorting to Ground.  Some Relays come with both NO (Normally Open) and NC (Normally Closed) contacts.  For my application I use NO (Normally Open) so that when the relay is energized the Relay closes.  Some Relays also have NC (Normally Closed) so you're 'opening' a connection versus closing one.
