If you're working with a limited budget or unable to install additional cameras for any reason, the methods outlined in this article may help you expand your monitoring area effectively.

Required Equipment

  1. A Tapo Pan&Tilt camera*
  2. A Tapo motion sensor (Tapo T100) or a contact sensor (Tapo T110)

*Not all Tapo Pan&Tilt cameras support the feature used in this thread. Please confirm the feature availability with the technical support before purchasing.

Setup

  1. Install a Tapo contact or motion sensor in the location where camera's standard field of view does not reach.
  2. Create an automation:
    • When motion sensor detects movement OR when contact sensor is opened/kept open for a set time
    • Then Rotate camera to a set angle (Pan & Tilt Control)

Important Notes

1. Tapo T100 or T110 sensor is not rated for outdoor use and is not waterproof. If you need to place it outside, ensure appropriate weatherproofing measures are taken.

2. Distance Limitations: While the sensor can trigger the camera to move to a specific angle, if the sensor is positioned too far away, the movement in that location may not activate the camera for detection and recording.

3. Monitoring Gaps: When the camera is adjusting its angle, other areas may temporarily be left unmonitored.
