I have been experiencing speed issues with online games and ran some bufferbloat tests on waveform.com. My results vary from D to A, but they are mostly D. Strangely, when I test on my phone, I get a A or B result, whereas my wired desktop almost always gets a D.

Additionally, I keep seeing the message 'Abnormal WAN port Speed.' However, my cable is new and CAT8. I'm not sure if this issue is related to my bufferbloat or if it's just a firmware error, as I’ve seen mentioned in this forum.

 

Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Is the mobile phone connected to the 6GHz Wi-Fi band?

Can I have more details about the speed issues with online games?

-By the way, how many Deco XE200 do you have? Are they connected by WiFi Backhaul?

No, it's connected to the 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks. I'm not sure why the 6GHz network isn't available for selection.

 

Can I have more details about the speed issues with online games?

Usually, it happens when playing Dota 2, and my ping goes up from 90-100 to 250-300. I need to quit the match and reconnect for it to go away.

 

-By the way, how many Deco XE200 do you have? Are they connected by WiFi Backhaul?

My setup consists of an XE200 as the main unit (connected to the modem) and three Deco X20 units (firmware 1.5.3 Build 20231227 Rel. 62097) connected to the XE200.

  @kyooken  Does the Deco model provide SQM or QoS control? Manufacturers often make these available to control bufferbloat. See What Can I Do About Bufferbloat? on the www dot bufferbloat dot net site (Couldn't paste in the direct link...)

Hi!

 

Yesterday, I was experimenting with the settings and enabled QoS again. The last time I turned it on, it made things worse for some reason, but this time, it completely eliminated bufferbloat. However, the downside is that my speed now stays around 80–90 Mbps. With QoS disabled, I get a consistent 800–1000 Mbps. I'm not sure if that's the actual speed or just a placebo effect. I tested it using Waveform and Speedtest.
