Model: Tapo D230S1
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.2.0

Since the last update I have had nothing but problems popping up

- doorbell setting changed itself so chime was now jingle bells on the hub chime

- doorbell duration changed itself to play for over 1 minute continuously

- doorbell volume set to max on the hub chime

- doorbell now passes 'person was detected' notices but will never record, playback is always empty after ensuring all filters were set to on, older recordings are available

- doorbell whines incessently about battery draining too fast, when it's as slow or slower than before and detection events are at 2/5, it rarely triggers on anything that isn't intended to be triggered (people approaching the door) and almost never captures pedestrians walking the pavement at the top of the drive so clearly this is a false alarm.

In particular I would like the battery drain alerts to be able to be turned off, but most importantly playback recordings to be saved to my SD card as settings suggest they will be, since that's 90% of the reason I have a video doorbell.

Can we rollback firmware? I had no issues for months until the update last week.

Regarding the hub ringing issue, please double-check the settings here: doorbell Device Settings page > Doorbell > Paired Chime.

As for the recording problem, try to reset the sd card and see if that helps.

As a battery-powered doorbell camera, D230 starts detection and recording only after it is woken up by the PIR sensor, it also consumes battery when the camera is woken up. You can check the doorbell's Battery Status page for detailed battery consumption. The corresponding reminder will appear if the doorbell is woken up too often, unusually high.

It appears one thing is resolved: every event is being recorded as 'motion' when previously before the software update they were categorised as 'person', and I only had 'person' to be saved to SD card. Not reassuring that the categorisation has regressed but a fix is a fix.

Have you checked the detection settings? Is the Person Detection still on?

Try to disable motion detection and only turn on the Person Detection, walk passing the doorbell then verify whether the doorbell can still record your movements.

yes, person detection and motion detection are on. Motion detection is restricted to a smaller area and person detection is across the whole visible area, however any person on the camera is classed as motion or nothing if motion is disabled

The clip video shouldn't be tagged with the motion event icon if the Motion Detection is off. You may share some videos of the false detection to us, our tech team can help to analyze it. *Upload the videos to your personal cloud drive or YouTube and send us the link.

Please provide two types of videos so that the tech team can assist efficiently:

1. Please provide a screenshot of the playback page where you can see that the event in the list is only labeled with the motion icon.

2. And also export the video corresponding to this event.

3. Provide several sets of the video and screenshot. This will be helpful in analyzing the reason why the person detection does not work.
