Archer VR1210v with ISP firmware
I purchased this router second hand online and I didn't know it had specific ISP firmware installed.
I can log on to it OK and change settings etc but, if I do a factory reset, it reverts back to the ISP logon details. I don't know what other settings might be ISP specific so I would like to be able to do a proper reset. I even did a firware update but this still kept all the settings.
I believe this might be possible using the TP-Link Aginet Config software but I don't have access to this. I also logged a ticket with TP-Link support but they say they can't help which I'm not sure about but have to accept.
Does anyone know if there is a way to revert to the standard factory firmware ?
Thanks

Hi, welcome to our community.
Maybe the device you purchased was provided by the seller's ISP.
Sorry that we have no further suggestions, as Archer VR1210v is a customized model by some ISPs. And we can not get its factory firmware, either.
Thank you and best regards.

Hello
There are several TP-Link articles about accessing a recovery option on routers, including these:
How to use firmware recovery on the Pharos products | TP-Link
How to recover the router when it bricked | TP-Link
So surely it should be possible to do with this one as well ?
If I press the reset button and power on this router it doesn't actually then power on at all. I then need to power it back off and on again. Just pressing reset on its own just does a normal reset and it goes back to the ISP settings. Is there a different sequence of button presses for this model to get into recovery mode ?
Thanks

Hi, the articles that you found are not suitable for Archer VR1210v, which is a DSL modem router.
As this model is a customized model, the factory mode may be restricted by some ISPs already.
Sorry that we have further suggestions. And you may contact local technical support for any possible advice.
Thank you and best regards.

Yes I know those articles are for other models but I was just referencing them as examples that TP-Link have provided instructions to do this for other models. It's not as if it's a "hack" that TP-Link don't support. So I don't know why it's not possible to do this for this model, even if it has a custom firmware. The custom firmware must have been installed in the first place somehow. As far as I know the whole point of the recovery option is to revert or recover back to a standard firmware and setup for the router.
