Hey everyone,

I’m using the Tapo C520WS and I’ve set up a few presets across the 360° pan range. Just wondering is it possible to set a different motion detection zone for each preset view, or is the detection zone the same (fixed) no matter where the camera is pointing?

 

Would be super helpful for monitoring multiple specific areas with different zones.

 

Does it affect Motion tracking

Multiple detection zone is not supported. Here is a feature request post with the same request, Detection zones with Preset Views and Motion Tracking, vote for this thread and leave your comments there! The product team will review the feature requests regularly, hot topics with detailed background information (e.g. use scenarios, reasons why you want or don't want a certain feature, etc) will be prioritized for evaluation.

 

The detection zone is fixed, it cannot memorize the target object or area and adjust automatically when the camera rotates.

  @Lily_js thanks for bringing this up and posting in the wanted threads +1'd it.

 

Just got the same camera and I was going crazy trying to set different zones for each area including the privacy black out. Seems to me like it's something that should be standard.

Any decent PT(z) camera with integral motion detection should maintain separate detection zones, and privacy masks for each saved PT(z) preset. I'm extremely disappointed that my new C520WS does not do this. The omission of this simple software feature renders my c520ws only half as useful as it should be.
