Problem:
Every time when I press the D235 Doorbell more than once in the same minute, I only get a notification (or call) on my iPhone. So only after the first press, I get notification/call (depending on the setting), but if I press once more e.g. after 30 seconds, I get NOTHING on my iPhone. 

 

The Chime works every time though. The Doorbell itself also make a 'doorbell' sound every time.  Of course I do not press twice within 5 seconds or less.

 

This is reproduceable. I have tried with the notification settings as well as using the setting to get a call on my iPhone, but both do not happen more than every minute.
I have tried everything I could think of, but I just never get more than one notification (only the first one).

 

Is this by design? Do other people also have this behavior?

 

Feature request:

If this is as designed, can this behavior be changed? So that I get the notification more frequent? 

 

Settings I switched on/changed:

- Background refresh of Tapo is ON. 

- Low data Mode for both WIFI and 5G is OFF.

- All possible notification settings are switched ON.

 

iPhone 11 Pro with latest iOS (18.4.1)

Latest version of Tapo App.

Doorbell TP-Link Tapo D235, latest available firmware.

I do get a notification much later (1 or 2 minutes later): TIME SENSITIVE Doorbell Ring Missed: You have missed a doorbell ring.

Doorbell press within one minute will only trigger one notification or ring call. 

 

Could you share why you want to receive repeated notifications? In what specific scenarios do you have this need?

Does you reply mean that the behavior of the Tapo D235 is working like this by design?

 

My scenario is for the second notification in a minute on my iPhone is simple:
- The guys delivering packages are always in a hurry. 
- They will press the doorbell a second time (10-15 seconds or so after the first time), when nobody immediately opens the door. 
  After that they will wait a little and leave with the package. That is very common in The Netherlands.
- Normally my wife will open the door, but sometimes she can't because she is busy or I don't know that she left the house.
- If I would get the second notification in a short time on my iPhone, I do know I need to take action and open the frontdoor.

 

For your info:

- I can't hear the chime in my house because I work on the second floor and the chime is on the ground floor, so I am dependent on the iPhone notification. 
- The chime makes a sound everytime the doorbell is pressed, so the behavior of the iPhone notification and the Chime is really different.
