+1 please provide first class support for Home Assistant, I will drop TPLink devices and switch to other smart outlets/switches that support it instead.

Thanks everyone for advising against firmware updates!

Apparantly none are safe from the tireless march of ens***iffication.

Luckily, I don't let your devices talk to the iternet.

Basically would have rendered $500 worth of electronics worthless...

Won't be buying any more, that's for sure.

@Wayne-TP could you point to the specific security vulnerabilities in HomeAsisstant that raise concerns?

Wow. Really glad I found this thread...

I was looking for an integration for my TP-Link router when I stumbled accross this thread instead.

I was just about to buy 2x dozen Tapo in-wall outlets after renovations...

Does anyone know of a good localy-controlled inwall outlet?

Someting you're currently using and really like?

Hopefully one that's maintained by a company that sells a product and not just looking to trap me in a cloud based ecosystem to scrape my data?

About time to find a new router too i guess...

@ILikeComputer Inovelli has some great options that Linus of Linus Tech Tips uses in his house, but they're pretty pricey and some of their cutting edge presence detection switches are still in pre-order. ...They basically offer Matter/Thread, Zigbee or Z-Wave.

If TP-Link intorduces firmware that cuts off Home Assistant access, though, I will drop all of their products. Local control via HA is non-negotiable.

  @Sad_HA_User

oof. I just bought over $500 worth of cameras, sensors, and the h500 hub thinking everything would integrate with my existing set up. Waited for the Black Friday sale. It's all going to have to be returned  if this hasn't been fixed or there isnt a work around. so many people I know want the ability to integrate their systems. This is a bad business decision for sure. It will start showing up in all tapo reviews, professional and otherwise--including mine.

any updates on this issue?

@Wayne-TP Any update on this? I was going to replace all my Ring cameras with Tapo cameras during Black Friday, but Home Assistant compatibility is important to me. I totally get that TP-Link doesn't officially support third-party software, but it sounds like TP-Link is actively blocking access? No bueno and a non-starter. Can you provide an update on whether the company has changed its status on this? Thanks.

Adding my voice. I have a few Kasa and Tapo devices and have been using them almost exclusively through Home Assistant.
I had the bad idea of trusting TP-Link so I upgraded the firmware of a few of these devices. Since then, I only have troubles with their integration with Home Assistant.
If you don't play nice with total local control and Home Assistant then your dead to me.
