Cannot update Archer AX53 to latest Firmware version
Cannot update Archer AX53 to latest Firmware version

Hello,
I have recently bought a TP-LINK Archer AX53 V1 (EU) router and after setting it up to work, noticed that there is an available Firmware update waiting to be initiated. The available firmware is 1.4.3 Build 20250314.
For some reason, the update seems to fail without any error code.
I have tried the following:
- Tried to run the update from my laptop where I have wired(LAN) connection, from the admin page and the download phase is fine, but when installing, it loads to 100% two times really quick and at the 3rd attempt it fails at 0%.
- Tried from the mobile app(Wi-Fi), Tether, but the update runs for about 2-3 minutes and at the end it says it's done succesfully, but the same old version is still showing up as installed.
- Tried to update manually using the .bin file from Download pentru Archer AX53 | TP-Link România(Romania), but it still fails while at 0%.
- Tried with the 2nd Firmware version within the list(previous version) and still the same issue.
- Tried to change the DNS to 1.1.1.1(CloudFlare) as I have seen on a TP-LINK post which suggested this as a possible resolution.
- Restarted my ISP Modem + TP-LINK router, and also reset both to Factory Settings(re-did the setup).
- Tried from a different Browser(Mozilla), but it does the same.
- I even attemtped to disable the Firewall on my ISP Modem thinking it can block the update somwhow, but it wasn't the case.
There is anything I can do to run this update or I would have to stick with the version I already have?
Thanks.
Kind regards,
Roebrt

Hi @Swapnil_Sarker @Glenson @Hariom_69
Thank you for reporting your issue to our community.
We have reported the problem of not being able to update directly to 1.4.3 to the relevant technical department.
Please wait patiently for the update. The relevant department is working diligently to speed up the progress and resolve this issue.
If you are in a hurry to use this version of the firmware, you can review the experiences of Robert_PSL and deadman4168. Upgrade to the intermediate version of the firmware first, and then try to update to version 1.4.3.
Thank you for your understanding and support.

I bought my Archer AX53 V1 in Brazil to use VPN Client, but the original firmware doesn't offer this feature. I tried to update to the firmware available on the site "Archer AX53(BR)_V1_1.4.3 Build 20250314" "Archer AX53(US)_V1_1.4.3 Build 20250314" "Archer AX53(BR)_V1_1.3.1 Build 20241120" and get the same error described here. For me, it is useless without VPN Client. What should I do? Should I send it back to the store? Thank You.

Thank you for the reply. I've tried the version 1.3.1 too but same error. I bought this router exclusively to create a vpn client network. But if it not work I have to send it back to store. Thank you.

Hi@LeonardoMed,
Thanks for getting back to me.
Robert_PSL's experience is to download the firmware Archer AX53(US)_V1_240509 in the following regions and update it manually.
Also, keep the Auto Update button turned on to ensure that you can receive push notifications for the latest firmware version on time.

SOLVED!
Good night! I find a way to update the router Archer AX-53 V1.
First, I performed a hard reset by pressing the back button for around 5 seconds (until the lights went off).
Previously I download the 1.1.4 firmware version at the TP-Link Portugal : https://static.tp-link.com/upload/firmware/2023/202305/20230515/Archer%20AX53(EU)_V1_230413.zip
After HARD RESET I did a manual update of this version above. After updating to the 1.1.4 version I could update from the cloud server correctly.
It appears that is necessary to do the HARD RESET first, then update to the near firmware from the original (1.1.4).
Here is my screen after updating and thank you for this communication.
I'm here if anyone needs help.
God bless you all!
