'm currently using a standard Plusnet Hub 2 on a FTTP installation. For various reasons, I'd like to be able to assign fixed IP addrssses to some of my hobby devices but the Hub 2 doesn't save these correctly. 

 

I have a TP-Link Archer VR400 V3 VDSL modem/router that I used on a FTTC installation in our old house. I tried using this with the cable from the Openreach internal wall box plugged in to the LAN/WAN port of the VR400, the same as it would be for the Hub 2. This doesn't connect to the internet, although it boots up OK and broadcasts its wi-fi network. Is there anything I'm doing wrong here? Can I expect to be able to use the VR400 for this purpose?

To use Archer VR400 for FTTP service you have to switch it's operation mode to wireless router mode first and then use its LAN4/WAN port:

Welcome to our community.

As terziyski said, if you connect the wall box to the LAN/WAN port of the VR400, you need to change the operation mode to wireless mode.

Setting up the modem as a wireless router, you can refer to How to configure the AC VDSL/ADSL Modem Router as a regular wireless router (new logo).

You might just need to tweak the WAN settings for it to work with FTTP, similar to how customizing labubu outfits adds that perfect fit it’s all about the right configuration.
