Model: Deco X55
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.10

I installed a 3 set of X55 Decos 3 weeks ago, connected to a Gen 1 Starlink (satellite connects directly to Deco, no Starlink router involved), and the past 2 weeks each week I have had the Deco lose WAN and not come back on its own, requiring me to unplug the 'main' Deco to reset the network (rebooting via the app didn't work).

In both instances of Deco hanging, Starlink had done a firmware update to the dish earlier that morning, give or take minutes to a few hours before, hard to say if clocks are synced for me to pinpoint exact time. We are talking at 3am/4am, when I am fast asleep!

As I don't track when Starlink does firmware updates (it is usually at least weekly if not more), I am guessing the X55 hasn't hung every single time Starlink has updated, but I can't be sure. Thus I am not positive the issue has to do with Starlink firmware updates, but it is coincidental that the Deco hangs occurred both times after a Starlink firmware update.

Any ideas?

I have 1 week left where I can return the X55's, so unless I work this out shortly, I will be returning them. I haven't had this issue with previous routers (Synology RT2600AC and Adtran 854-v6) so at a loss as to what is causing this.

The only pertinent settings I have changed with the X55 is:

- disabled IPv6 as with it enabled max speed I would get was ~ 140Mbs; with IPv6 disabled I get 300Mbs+;

- WiFi Settings/2.4 & 5 Network/Advanced/Channel Width 5ghz = 160 mhz

Thanks for any assistance...IanQ

  @IanQ

Have you checked the deco app for firmware updates? If not I would start there

Need help with the Deco app, setup, Ethernet backhaul, network switch or rolling back firmware? Router or AP mode? https://community.tp-link.com/us/home/forum/topic/699816?page=1

  @IanQ

Hi, did Deco turn red during the disconnection?

Would there still be a valid IPV4 address under the Deco APP>More>Internet Connection when Deco loses WAN connection?

It would be highly appreciated if you could save a copy of the web UI system log when Deco dropped out:

Deco web interface login

Have you tried to connect the Starlink router back to the Satellite Dish, then connect Deco X55 to the Starlink router and set Deco into Access Point mode, such as:

Wait for your reply.

Best regards.

  @David-TP

The Deco did not turn red, it was the normal green/blue (slightly colorblind so not sure which one).

However, in the app, it stated the main Deco was offline, and trying to reboot it from the app failed, thus I had to power it off/on to reset it.

(Next time I will grab a screenshot.)

If this happens again before my 30 day return window, I will look at the IPv4 info and capture the log from the web UI.

I tried to see if I could recreate it by unplugging Starlink, and rebooting Starlink, but the main Deco came back properly after all tests.

I haven't tried to run Deco in AP mode, I don't want to lose the features. If I had more time to test this I would.

Unfortunately, with the 30 day return policy at Amazon, I have 6 days left before I have to precess the return.

If I am lucky, Starlink will do a firmware update again soon...
